Our staff are our most important asset, and as such we are dedicated to training and supporting them to achieve their potential. We value their wellbeing, and our friendly and dynamic working environments and company culture ensure we maintain high staff satisfaction levels.
At Henry Riley, we believe that employing a diverse mix of people makes us a stronger and more sustainable business. We operate in diverse communities. So having a diverse workforce at all levels throughout the company, ensures we make better decisions for our business and our clients.
We recognise that the property and construction sector is behind other professions in moving towards a more diverse and inclusive workforce. For us, the need for change is clear, and put simply, it’s the right thing to do.
As a growing company we are always looking for new people to join at all different levels. Visit our vacancies page to see all current job openings.
Inclusive and dynamic working environment
We’re a close-knit, welcoming and inclusive company. We have an open door policy with all our directors, and strong communications links between staff at all levels and in all job roles. We are also proud to hold a RICS Inclusive Employer Quality Mark, which demonstrates that we are committed to improving inclusivity according to their four key principles. In a recent externally appraised survey undertaken by People Insight we scored 86% in the Diversity and Inclusion Index score which is up 10% higher than the sector norm. The results of the survey are being used to develop our action plan so we can take the next important steps in developing our culture of celebrating diversity and inclusion. On the social side we have a yearly programme of events, including a company-wide social event, along with separate office events like bowling, cricket evenings and curry nights.
Ongoing training and development
The ongoing development of our teams is at the centre of our business. We were one of the first UK construction consultancy firms to be accredited with the Investors In People award in 1998 and we have recently retained our ‘gold accreditation’, which is only awarded to the top 17% of employers. We have an award-winning non-cognate training programme, and an in-house APC programme. We also offer training opportunities to enable you to become qualified in your particular field, whether that's in a corporate services or consultancy services role.
Continued professional development
We offer training and development at all stages of your career and encourage all team members to develop their knowledge through regular CPD events. You also have opportunities to develop other skills through software, presentation and management training. We also fully support employees who retrain and change their career paths.
Variety of experience
As a team member you get to work across a variety of sectors and project types. Graduates enjoy hands-on experience working closely with directors while as a more experienced employee you have the scope to develop your own clients and client teams.
Be part of innovation
We make sure that every voice counts, and we’re open to new suggestions to improve processes and drive our business forward. We’re at the forefront of digital services and ways of working, with a dedicated team focused on digital innovation. We also have an Innovation Forum, an outlet for all staff to pose suggestions on all aspects of the business, with suggestions reviewed by a committee on a monthly basis and employees recognised and rewarded for their innovative thinking.
Contribute to the communities we work in and the wider society
Social Value is at the core of what we do and endeavour to undertake all activities in a socially, ethically and environmentally responsible manner. We have therefore developed a policy that affects and enhances all areas of our business to ensure that corporate social responsibility is fundamental to how we operate. In addition, we are also a signatory of the UN Global Compact, as well as EcoVadis Gold Rated. We have partnered with Mates in Mind to be our charity partner for the next three years, all employees have a volunteer day a year to use towards helping charity, either to spend time volunteering at the charity’s fundraising events, or being part of a fundraising activity.
You're not just a number
We get to know all our employees, and understand your personality, strengths and weaknesses, in order to help you make the most of your career. We also have bi-annual employee awards, taking into account client feedback and staff nominations, to recognise and reward those who have excelled. The size of our business means everyone has a voice, and we’re always open to new ideas.
Enjoy a host of benefits
We offer a range of benefits to all team members, such as life assurance, pension contributions, Ride to Work schemes and birthday leave, and we review our benefits packages annually. All employees have access to Perkbox where they can access a host of discounts and freebies. We’ve been featured as one of the top 50 companies in Building Magazine’s Good Employers Guide for the last six years, shortlisted from around 200 applicants each year.
Our international workload is growing, and our office in Australia is expanding. We also work on a variety of other projects abroad, including across Europe and the Middle East. We have had three international transfers who have moved from our Bolton and Croydon offices to our Melbourne office, and there are other opportunities on the horizon.
