We recognise that our staff are our most important asset, and as such we are dedicated to training and supporting them to achieve their potential. We value their wellbeing, and our friendly and dynamic working environments and company culture ensure we maintain high staff satisfaction levels.
As a growing company we are always looking for new people to join at all different levels. Visit our vacancies page to see all current job openings.
Ongoing training and development
The ongoing development of our teams is at the centre of our business. We were one of the first UK construction consultancy firms to be accredited with the Investors In People award in 1998 and we have recently retained our ‘gold accreditation’, which is only awarded to the top 16% of employers. We have an award-winning non-cognate training programme, and an in-house APC programme. We also offer training opportunities to enable you to become qualified in your particular field, whether that's in a technical or support role.
Continued professional development
We offer training and development at all stages of your career and encourage all team members to develop their knowledge through regular CPD events. You also have opportunities to develop other skills through software, presentation and management training. We also fully support employees who retrain and change their career paths.
Variety of experience
As a team member you get to work across a variety of sectors and project types. Graduates enjoy hands-on experience working closely with senior associates and partners while as a more experienced employee you have the scope to develop your own clients and client teams.
Dynamic and friendly working environment
We’re a close-knit and welcoming company. We have an open door policy with all our partners, and strong communications links between staff at all levels and in all job roles. We are also proud to hold a RICS Inclusive Employer Quality Mark, which demonstrates that we are committed to improving inclusivity according to their six key principles. On the social side we have a yearly programme of events, including a yearly company-wide social event, along with separate office events like bowling, cricket evenings and curry nights.
Be part of innovation
We make sure that every voice counts, and we’re open to new suggestions to improve processes and drive our business forward. We’re at the forefront of digital services and ways of working, with a dedicated team focused on digital innovation. We also have an Innovation Forum, an outlet for all staff to pose suggestions on all aspects of the business, with suggestions reviewed by a committee on a monthly basis and employees recognised and rewarded for their innovative thinking.
Contribute to the environment and the community
We have an ongoing partnership with the inspirational charity Together for Short Lives. All employees have a day a year to use towards helping the charity, either to spend time volunteering at the charity’s fundraising events, or being part of a fundraising activity. Each year we pledge 2% of our profits to the charity, and over the last five years have raised over £170,000 through this and staff fundraising. Sustainability is also at the heart of what we do, and we concentrate on reducing our carbon footprint through our ISO 14001 certified Environmental Management System.
You're not just a number
We get to know all our employees, and understand your personality, strengths and weaknesses, in order to help you make the most of your career. We also have bi-annual employee awards, taking into account client feedback and staff nominations, to recognise and reward those who have excelled. The size of our business means everyone has a voice, and we’re always open to new ideas.
Enjoy a host of benefits
We offer a range of benefits to all team members, such as life assurance, pension contributions, Ride to Work schemes and birthday leave, and we review our benefits packages annually. All employees have access to Perkbox where they can access a host of discounts and freebies. We’ve been featured as one of the top 50 companies in Building Magazine’s Good Employers Guide for the last six years, shortlisted from around 200 applicants each year.
Our international workload is growing, and our offices in South Africa and Australia are expanding. We also work on a variety of other projects abroad, including across Europe and the Middle East. Our first international transfer moved from our Bolton office to our Melbourne office, and there are other opportunities on the horizon.
Join an experienced team
Established in 1890 by Henry Riley, we’ve been providing construction consultancy services for over 125 years. We’re proud of our heritage and the experience it brings us, but we’re also innovative, modern and forward thinking. Our employees are the heart of our business, and we’re renowned for having people work for us for 30, 40 and sometimes 50 years. The knowledge this long service brings us is unmatched by our competitors, and we make sure we show our appreciation of our team members for their loyalty.
