What we are seeking:

Henry Riley are looking for a motivated, seasoned Health and Safety Professional with a strong background in construction and experience of modern construction practices. You must be capable of confidently delivering the role of Principal Designer and a CDM Client Advisory role, in addition to managing the day-to-day delivery of one of our logistics clients on a UK wide basis.

Preferably based in the Midlands, working out of either our Cambridge, Leicester or Birmingham offices, you will be ideally positioned to attend sites as required to react to site-based issues as necessary or requested by our site-based operatives and also to attend any regular ‘in-person’ meetings. The role is challenging and does demand a degree of flexibility regarding working hours.

Duties;

  • Management of freelance staff based on client premises.
  • Manage own projects and oversee those of others.
  • Primary point of contact for client throughout the working day plus some out of hours contact/coordination when issues arise.
  • Manage the expectations of the client throughout individual contracts.
  • Coordinate leave/illness cover and liaise with recruitment agency as necessary.
  • Liaise with project management to close out client deliverables.
  • With assistance from the team Administrator, monitor client deliverables platform and ensure any issues/actions are closed out by the on-site resource.
  • Liaise with Client H&S Business Partner on a regular basis to maintain, and build on, client/consultant relationships.
  • Challenge the client on resource allocation requirements and deliverables where appropriate.

Desirables;

  • Flexible attitude towards delivery methodology.
  • Experience of construction operations within a logistics environment.
  • Staff management including leading on recruitment and disciplinary processes of freelance appointments to specific client.

Background;

  • Previous industry experience within a Health & Safety/CDM Advisor or Principal Designer role
  • Grad IOSH and CMIOSH preferred but not essential
  • Hold NEBOSH Construction/Diploma construction Level 6 (Level 3 if already chartered in design discipline)
  • Incorporated Member of the Association for Project Safety (IMaPS) working toward Certified Member of the Association for Project Safety (CMaPS)
  • Health and safety management system auditing with OHSAS 18001 Auditor/Lead auditor preferable
  • Qualified Fire Risk Assessor – IFE or IFSM preferable
  • Wide ranging sector experience that includes strong sector experience with Global Distribution Clients and working knowledge of large scale/complex projects.
  • Knowledge and experience of using Microsoft Office suite
  • Communication & influencing skills at all levels within the organisation & externally
  • Ability to seek out and develop Business Opportunities
  • Ability to provide health and safety training and presentations internally to staff and externally to clients and others
  • Experienced in developing others to support the growth of the talent pipeline
